A district-level Unity March (Pad Yatra) was held in Chümoukedima on 3 November 2025 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The event, organised by MY Bharat Chümoukedima in collaboration with the District Administration, featured a “Unity Walk” from the CTC Office to Patkai Christian College under the theme “Let Us Walk for Unity, Rise for Nation.”
The programme aimed to promote the spirit of Ek Bharat, Aatmanirbhar Bharat and to honour Sardar Patel’s contribution to India’s national integration. Deputy Commissioner Polan John flagged off the Padayatra and addressed the gathering, recalling Patel’s historic role in uniting over 560 princely states into a single nation.
“Patel’s life teaches us that unity, determination, discipline, and integrity can transform a nation,” John said, urging citizens, especially the youth, to embody these values and contribute towards a harmonious and prosperous India.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Ninoto Zhimomi, in his address, highlighted the significance of unity in diversity and collective responsibility in nation-building. He stated that “diversity and unity bring strength together,” and noted that the Naga people have long upheld harmony and cooperation as guiding values.
Principal of Patkai Christian College, Dr. Thepfuvilie Pieru, encouraged students to engage actively in social causes and uphold discipline, empathy, and teamwork. District Youth Officer Korada Manikanta, delivering the presidential address, emphasised MY Bharat’s vision of nurturing responsible and proactive citizens through volunteerism and collective efforts.
Youth speakers D. Chiluni and Nuvekholu Dozo shared messages on leadership, civic responsibility, and the role of young people in shaping the future. NSS students of Patkai Christian College presented a cultural performance, adding vibrancy to the celebration.
Leiyolan Cecelia chaired the programme and invited guests to the stage, while mementos were presented to participants and speakers in recognition of their contributions. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by K. Manikanta, followed by the National Anthem.
